Jen Pomphrey

So I’m Jen, graphic designer by day and night. I'm an observer of the wonderful and participator of the many wonderful things that London and its surroundings offer. I graduated from University of Cumbria last year and now I'm tackling the real world of work.

Having studied in Graphic Design I decided that it was time to approach a job that took these skills and put them into practice. I've grown up building sites since the age of 13, and blogging for pretty much all that time. Its been a great experience having the oppurtunity to grow up with the knowledge pool of so many talented designers at my finger tips. With this and my own skills I felt that I had gathered a fair bit of knowledge, so I felt that a trip into the world of the internet was a natural progression after my design degree. In September 2008 I started a placement with the magazine Wallpaper* on their site wallpaper.com. 3 months on I got the job.

Why a blog?

To be honest it only seems natural for me to be blogging. I have a number of other little projects going on out there the most important being a collaborative visual archive Aesthetic Pleasure, but more than anything I wanted to have a place to voice my thoughts on things that captured me. So here it is. I will be bringing a mixture of work that I find visually stimulating, great music and pictures that I myself have taken or made. A blog for me is just a brilliant place to archive my thoughts.

I think its incredibly important in a the modern climate to constantly have your finger on the pulse of popular culture and one thing over the years that I have noticed from being so active on the web is that it is always first to deliver trends, news and views.
